Mexican Migrant Dies After Texas ICE Facility Shooting, President Sheinbaum Demands Probe

A Mexican migrant has died from injuries sustained in last week’s shooting at a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Texas, raising the death toll to two.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed the development on Tuesday, stating that the attack was carried out by a gunman who opened fire from the roof of a nearby building before killing himself.

The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), an NGO advocating for the Hispanic community in the US, identified the victim as 32-year-old Miguel Garcia-Hernandez.

Sheinbaum said her government facilitated the victim’s mother’s travel to Texas to oversee the repatriation of her son’s body. She also pressed US authorities for a thorough investigation.

ICE’s aggressive role in the Trump-era immigration crackdown has long drawn criticism, particularly over the agency’s use of armed, masked agents to conduct public raids on undocumented migrants.
