France’s World Cup winner Bixente Lizarazu has openly criticized Kingsley Coman’s decision to leave Bayern Munich for the Saudi League.
The former Bayern star insisted no one could convince him that such a move was based on sporting ambition, arguing that the Saudi league does little to develop players. He maintained that Coman, still in his prime, could have thrived in a top European competition such as the English Premier League.
While pointing out that players like N’Golo Kanté have managed to stay in contention for France despite playing in Saudi Arabia, Lizarazu said Coman’s switch feels more like a sporting retreat at his age.
Coman, however, expressed admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo, calling it an honour to play alongside the Portuguese star and noting that it would be a memory he would one day share with his children.
