JAMB Sets 2025 University Admission Cut-Off at 150

At the 2025 policy meeting held on Tuesday, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), in collaboration with heads of tertiary institutions, announced that the minimum UTME score required for university admission in 2025 will be 150.

This decision means that no university in Nigeria will be allowed to admit candidates who scored below 150 in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Despite this national benchmark, several top institutions—including the University of Ibadan, Pan-Atlantic University, and the University of Lagos—have opted for a higher cut-off mark of 200.

Some newly established private universities reportedly suggested a lower benchmark of 120, but JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, proposed a compromise score of 160.
