Israel to Call Up 60,000 Reservists Ahead of Planned Gaza City Offensive

The Israeli military has announced plans to call up around 60,000 reservists in preparation for a major ground offensive aimed at capturing and occupying Gaza City.

According to a military official, the reservists are expected to report for duty in September. However, the bulk of the forces taking part in the offensive will come from active-duty personnel.

The official also noted that Israeli troops are already engaged in operations in the Zeitoun and Jabalia areas as part of the wider preparations.

The plan, which was approved by Defence Minister Israel Katz on Tuesday, is expected to be presented to the country’s security cabinet later this week for further consideration.
