KADUNA, Nigeria – July 30, 2025
The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has declared that Boko Haram attacks, banditry, and communal violence have significantly declined in Northern Nigeria over the past two years under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on Tuesday at a two-day interactive session organized by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation in Kaduna State, Ribadu said the region has witnessed major improvements in security compared to the previous administration.
Citing statistics, the NSA revealed that during the last administration, Kaduna State alone recorded 1,192 killings and over 3,348 kidnappings. In Benue State, over 5,000 lives were lost to insecurity within the same timeframe.
Ribadu attributed the progress to President Tinubu’s directive for a unified and strategic approach among all security agencies. He noted that this coordinated effort has yielded tangible results, especially in the North-West, where security operations have led to the rescue of 11,259 hostages as of May 2025.
“In states like Zamfara, Kaduna, and Katsina, several notorious bandit leaders and their gangs have been neutralized through sustained military and intelligence operations,” he added.
He also praised the efforts of Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for adopting a non-kinetic strategy to address insecurity, particularly in flashpoint areas such as Southern Kaduna and Birnin Gwari.
The NSA reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring peace and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the northern region.
