Ikorodu High Court Approves DNA Testing for Mohbad’s Child to Settle Paternity Dispute

The Ikorodu High Court has approved three international laboratories — two in the United Kingdom and one in the United States — to conduct DNA tests to determine the paternity of Liam, the child of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

The paternity of Liam has been disputed by Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, who insists that the late singer’s remains, following his death on September 27, 2023, will not be laid to rest until a DNA test confirms the child’s parentage.

At the resumed hearing of the paternity case between Joseph Aloba and Wunmi, Mohbad’s widow, the father’s counsel told journalists:

“The court has eventually picked three DNA laboratory centers, two in the UK and one in the US. One from us, one from them, and the court picked an independent one. The matter has been adjourned to April 7 for us to report on the picking of samples. Prior to then, arrangements will be made with welfare officers to ensure that samples are taken under supervision, with all parties present.”

He added that the Aloba family and their legal team will have representatives at each center where the DNA samples are delivered and tested, ensuring transparency throughout the process.

The decision marks a significant step toward resolving the ongoing dispute over Liam’s paternity and the final arrangements for the late singer’s burial.
