Gov. Okpebholo to Commission 54 Construction Equipment for Edo’s 18 Local Government Councils

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, is set to unveil 54 units of construction equipment to the 18 Local Government Councils in the state, in a move aimed at boosting grassroots development.

The event, scheduled for Thursday in Benin City, highlights the administration’s commitment to practical governance, infrastructure renewal, and strengthening local government capacities.

The newly provided equipment, which includes graders, excavators, rollers, and other heavy-duty machinery, is expected to accelerate road construction, rural access projects, drainage rehabilitation, and other community-driven infrastructure initiatives. By placing these critical tools directly in the hands of councils, the government aims to fast-track development and reduce bureaucratic delays.

The initiative is designed to empower council leadership, stimulate economic activity in rural communities, and deliver tangible dividends of democracy across Edo’s three senatorial districts.

The commissioning ceremony will be performed by Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and will host top government officials, political stakeholders, traditional rulers, and community leaders.
