Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has congratulated Senator-elect Joe Ikpea and House of Representatives Member-elect Omosede Igbinedion on their victories in the Edo Central Senatorial and Ovia Federal Constituency by-elections held last Saturday.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo lauded the massive turnout of voters who overwhelmingly supported the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.
The Governor described the outcome as a “clear indication of the trust and confidence the people have in Ikpea and Igbinedion,” adding that the victory sets the stage for an easy win for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election in Edo State.
“This victory is a clear indication of the trust and confidence the people have in Ikpea and Igbinedion’s abilities to represent their interests effectively at the National Assembly,” Okpebholo said.
He expressed confidence that both lawmakers would be strong voices for Edo State, championing development and ensuring that the people of Edo Central and Ovia Federal Constituency receive due attention.
The Governor also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he described as a free, fair, and credible election, while praising security agencies for ensuring peace and order during the process.
Governor Okpebholo urged stakeholders to rally behind the newly elected lawmakers as they begin their journey of service, while reaffirming his administration’s readiness to collaborate with all elected officials, irrespective of political affiliation, for the progress of Edo State.
“On behalf of the Government and good people of Edo State, I wish Joe Ikpea and Omosede Igbinedion a successful and impactful tenure. We look forward to a fruitful collaboration that will bring positive change and prosperity to our State,” the Governor concluded.
