Gov Okpebholo: Edo’s First Flyover Bridge to be Delivered April 2026 — Four Months Ahead of Schedule

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced that the State’s first-ever flyover bridge will be completed by April 2026, four months earlier than originally planned.

The Governor made the announcement during the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Esan North-East Local Government Area ahead of the Edo Central Senatorial by-election slated for August 16.

Okpebholo explained that the completion timeline had been reduced from 18 months to 14 months, describing the move as proof of his administration’s resolve to fast-track critical infrastructure projects.

The rally, which covered all eleven wards of the Local Government, also witnessed a wave of defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party to the APC, boosting the ruling party’s momentum in the senatorial race.

Speaking on other infrastructure efforts, the Governor highlighted ongoing work on the dualisation of the Ekpoma–Ubiaja Road, promising intensified construction after the rainy season.

“Ekpoma Road was a death trap for everybody, but I ensured the road was awarded while I was still in the Senate. Today, a wonderful thing is going on there,” he said.

Okpebholo also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting Edo’s development drive, noting that federal backing has accelerated progress on key projects.

In addition, the Governor announced the revival of the Ugboha Water Scheme, which has restored water distribution to Uromi and neighbouring communities.

With the by-election days away, Okpebholo urged voters to support the APC candidate, Hon. Joseph Ikpea, to ensure continued development and peace in Edo Central.
