The Federal Government has cautioned project coordinators across the country to ensure that borrowed public funds are deployed prudently to deliver tangible value to citizens.
Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, issued the warning on Wednesday in Abuja during the maiden retreat organized by his office for donor-funded project coordinators.
Ogunjimi, represented by Director Joshua Luka, urged project managers to uphold transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the management of funds entrusted to them.
According to the AGF, discussions at the retreat focused on strengthening accountability frameworks, enhancing the role of internal audits, and ensuring seamless coordination with the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation.
A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of a proposed digital interface designed to unify and integrate the accounting and reporting systems of federal projects, thereby boosting oversight and efficiency.
