FG Declares March 19, 20 Public Holidays for Eid-el-Fitr

The Federal Government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark the celebration of Eid al-Fitr.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani.

According to the statement, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of Ramadan.

He urged Muslims to continue to uphold the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice cultivated during the fasting period.

Tunji-Ojo also called on all Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the nation’s peace, unity, and prosperity, while encouraging citizens to celebrate responsibly and extend kindness to the less privileged.
