FG Begins Payment of New Pension Increments for Retirees

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has commenced the implementation of new pension increments for retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme.

The adjustment, which adds ₦32,000 to monthly pensions, will take effect from the September 2025 payroll cycle.

According to PTAD, the increment follows President Bola Tinubu’s approval of an emergency budgetary allocation announced in August 2025. Out of the ₦45 billion approved, the Federal Ministry of Finance has already released ₦20.188 billion to support the rollout.

The Directorate emphasized that this development reaffirms the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting the welfare and entitlements of pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
