Family of Ihotu John Rebecca Seeks Public Support After Abduction on Benin Expressway

The family of Nigerian footballer Ihotu John Rebecca has appealed for public assistance following her reported abduction along the Benin Expressway.

Rebecca, who plays for Pacesetter Queens FC in the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership, was allegedly kidnapped on Friday, February 27, while travelling home along the busy motorway.

According to emerging reports, her abductors have demanded a ransom of ₦20 million for her release.

Her family has called on football stakeholders, club executives, sponsors, government officials, sports administrators, and well-meaning Nigerians to rally support toward securing her safe return.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident, heightening concerns over safety along major highways.

Rebecca’s abduction has sparked distress within the sporting community, given her active role in Nigeria’s top-flight women’s football league.
