Operations at an oil field in Iraq’s autonomous Kurdistan region have been suspended following an explosion at one of its production facilities in the Sarang field.
The U.S. company managing the field confirmed the incident in an official statement. This disruption comes as Iraq, a nation long troubled by conflict, continues to face sporadic attacks often linked to regional proxy tensions.
The blast occurred just a day after three explosive-laden drones targeted locations in Kurdistan. One drone was intercepted near Arbil airport, while two others struck the Khurmala oil field, resulting in material damage.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
