Head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, has reportedly outlined extensive conditions in his proposed contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), including uninterrupted electricity, a $130,000 monthly salary, and full autonomy over team selection.
According to details of the proposal, Chelle requested accommodation in a well-secured area with 24-hour uninterrupted power supply to support training analysis, staff coordination, and player monitoring.
The contract reportedly states: “House in a well-secured environment with 24hrs uninterrupted power supply (electricity).”
The coach also asked for a private SUV with a chauffeur, security, and GPS provision to facilitate movement during official assignments.
On staffing and welfare, Chelle proposed that the NFF issue formal working contracts to his technical crew and personal assistant, with salaries paid on or before the 30th of every month. He also requested that his personal assistant be included in the federation’s bonus and allowance structure.
The terms read: “The NFF has to issue a working contract for my staff. Salary needs to be paid on or before the 30th of every month. Bonus and allowance as per federation structure. Request to include my PA in the bonus and allowance structure.”
Chelle further demanded technical independence, including the right to select opponents for international friendly matches and travel privileges to scout both foreign-based and local league players for integration into the senior team and youth squads (U23, U20, and U17).
The proposal adds: “Based on opponents, the coach has the right of choice regarding int’l friendly matches… No interference in team selection and players call up.”
Other provisions reportedly include a furnished office equipped with a projector and internet access, supply of technical equipment based on the coach’s needs, monthly strategy meetings with all national team coaches, and flight tickets for his wife and two children (business class for Chelle and his wife, economy for the children).
The proposed $130,000 monthly salary is said to cover Chelle, his technical staff, and his personal assistant.
The NFF has yet to officially respond to the reported terms of the proposed agreement.
