A secondary school student, Tope Oriloye, abducted earlier this month in Makeke Community, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, has been safely released following the payment of a N2 million ransom.
Oriloye was kidnapped alongside Samuel Ilesanmi on February 8, 2026, at the community health centre, where Ilesanmi had brought his son for medical attention.
Bode Ekundayo, National Coordinator of the Movement for the Advancement of Akoko-Edo People, confirmed Oriloye’s release in a brief statement, saying:
“We all give thanks to God for the safe arrival of Tope Orilloye back home last night after payment of N2 million. She is safe, healthy, and unharmed. We are still awaiting the good news of the second victim, by God’s grace. He is from Ososo.”
Edo State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, also verified Oriloye’s release on Friday, confirming that she is unharmed.
Authorities and community leaders continue to coordinate efforts to secure the release of Samuel Ilesanmi.
