The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Desmond Enabulele, has assured the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Edo State chapter, of his full support in advancing sports reportage and development in the state.
Enabulele made the pledge while receiving the Association’s leadership, led by its Chairman, Comrade Kehinde Osagiede, during a courtesy visit to his office in Benin City.
In his remarks, Comrade Osagiede congratulated Enabulele on his appointment as Executive Chairman of the Commission, describing his leadership as dynamic and result-oriented. He noted that Enabulele’s achievements have also earned recognition from the National Secretariat of SWAN, which was one of the reasons for their visit.
The SWAN Chairman further highlighted the close relationship between sports administrators and journalists, while briefing the Commission boss on the upcoming SWAN Week. The event, he explained, will feature various sporting activities, with special attention to disciplines that have yet to gain mainstream exposure.
Responding through his Media Officer, Wilson Edoko, Hon. Enabulele expressed appreciation for the visit and commended Edo SWAN for their unwavering contributions to sports reportage and development in the state. He emphasized that sports journalism plays a crucial role in projecting the achievements of athletes, coaches, and administrators alike.
