Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has suspended his Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, Felix Isere, over unauthorized fundraising activities related to a planned oil and gas summit in the state.
The suspension was made public through a statement released today in Benin by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor.
The statement also confirmed that the governor has ordered the immediate cancellation of the summit, which was initially scheduled to commence on August 7.
Furthermore, Isere has been directed to refund all monies collected from donors in connection with the event. Prospective donors have been advised to cease any further dealings with the suspended adviser.
