Edo, German embassy partner to boost agriculture

The Edo State Government has partnered with the German Embassy to strengthen the agricultural sector in the state.

Special Adviser on Agriculture and Food Security to Governor Monday Okpebholo, Golden Ugbodu, who stated this, said the areas of cooperation included the use of industrial machines for large-scale farming and processing, the attraction of investors to take advantage of the lucrative agribusiness opportunities in Edo State, and export.

Ugbodu said he held a bilateral meeting with the Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Johannes Lehne, where the decision was reached.

According to him, the investment and technical cooperation is in line with the governor’s passion for food security in the state.

The meeting also had in attendance the First Secretary/Head of Cooperation, Embassy of Germany, Dr. Karin Jansen; the Programme Manager of GIZ-Skills Development for Youth Employment-SKYE; and the Personal Assistant to the Special Adviser on Agriculture and Food Security to Governor Okpebholo, Emmanuel Sule.
