Edo State Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, has called on gospel artistes to remain committed to the principles and values of Christianity in their music ministry.
Idahosa gave the charge when he received members of the Fellowship of Gospel Music Ministers of Nigeria (FOGMMON), who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Benin City.
He stressed that the uniqueness of gospel music lies in its message — one that should inspire repentance and draw listeners closer to God — unlike secular music.
The Deputy Governor assured the gospel artistes of the state government’s support towards their upcoming international conference in October. He also commended the Local Organising Committee for choosing Edo State as host.
Speaking earlier, the group’s leader, Louis Imafidon, explained that FOGMMON’s membership spans across Nigeria and the diaspora. The body appealed for government collaboration and physical presence at the conference to ensure its success.
Meanwhile, Idahosa also received the management team of Zios Confectionery, led by CEO Ezeigbe Ozioma, who briefed him on their forthcoming “Feed-a-Thon” project scheduled for next month. In response, Idahosa pledged his personal support and promised to bring the initiative to the attention of the Governor for necessary collaboration.
