Defence Chief Urges Communities to Protect Oil Facilities, Commends Pipeline Security Efforts

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has emphasized the importance of community ownership in safeguarding national assets, particularly oil infrastructure.

Speaking at a monthly stakeholders’ engagement hosted by Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, General Musa urged host communities along the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) to take responsibility for protecting oil facilities within their domain.

He warned that acts of oil bunkering and pipeline vandalism have devastating consequences, especially for the communities themselves, and called on residents to desist from such illegal activities.

General Musa also praised PINL for its outstanding efforts in ensuring the security of the TNP, noting the company’s impressive record of zero infractions. He described the achievement as commendable and a model for others in the industry.
