Buhari’s Remains Depart London for Final Burial in Daura

The remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari have departed London, United Kingdom, en route to his hometown of Daura in Katsina State for a state burial.

Reports indicate that the late president’s body is being transported aboard a Nigerian Air Force aircraft.

Meanwhile, Vice President Kashim Shettima is leading a high-level Federal Government delegation to oversee the final documentation and logistical processes for the repatriation of the former president’s remains.

Earlier, the Federal Government announced that President Bola Tinubu would personally receive Buhari’s body in Katsina before the final interment in Daura.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a press briefing in Abuja. Idris confirmed that Buhari, who passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in a London hospital, is expected to arrive in Nigeria today.
