President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the immediate reconstruction of major road projects in Niger State and Rivers State to enhance transportation, connectivity, trade, and overall development.
In a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of Works (Media), Mr. Francis Nwaze, and made available to journalists in Abakaliki on Friday, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, listed the approved projects in Niger State. They include the Mokwa–Bida Road (120km), Mokwa–Makeri Road (63km), and Bida–Labata Road (123.5km).
Umahi disclosed that the three road projects in Niger State, covering a total of 306.5 kilometres, will be reconstructed using reinforced concrete pavement to guarantee durability and long-term value.
He further revealed that the President also approved the extension of the Bodo–Bonny Road in Rivers State to link with the East–West Road. According to him, the project will be executed as a dual carriageway, constructed with concrete pavement and fitted with solar-powered street lighting. The contract will be awarded through a competitive bidding process.
The Minister expressed appreciation to the President for the strategic approvals, noting that the projects fall within key national economic corridors and will significantly boost connectivity and commercial activities.
He called on Nigerians to acknowledge the administration’s continued commitment to infrastructure development across the six geopolitical zones, particularly in delivering quality roads and bridges nationwide.
Umahi also congratulated the governors and residents of Niger and Rivers States, as well as Nigerians who stand to benefit from the projects. He urged citizens to continue supporting and praying for the President as the administration works to deliver democratic dividends across the country.
