FC Barcelona are considering a creative solution to retain Marcus Rashford as they struggle to trigger the €30 million permanent transfer clause agreed with Manchester United.
Rashford, who joined the Catalan club on loan, is reportedly keen to remain in Spain after rediscovering his form under manager Hansi Flick. The 28-year-old forward is said to have made it clear to Barcelona’s hierarchy that he does not want to return to Old Trafford.
Since arriving in Catalonia, Rashford has revived his career, regaining the consistency and confidence that dipped during his final months in the Premier League.
However, a permanent transfer remains uncertain due to Barcelona’s ongoing financial difficulties. Despite the relatively modest €30 million buyout clause, the club is finding it challenging to complete a straightforward deal.
Sporting director Deco is now exploring alternative options that could satisfy both Barcelona and Manchester United.
Reports indicate that United have maintained a firm stance, insisting they will not accept any fee below the agreed amount, which they consider a bargain given Rashford’s quality. The club is also keen to offload the player’s wages permanently.
To navigate the situation, Barcelona have proposed a second consecutive season-long loan, according to talkSPORT. The arrangement would allow the Spanish side to delay a full payment while still committing to the total transfer fee at a later date.
It remains uncertain whether Manchester United will agree to another temporary deal, especially as the club appears unlikely to reintegrate Rashford into their long-term plans.
