Saudi Women’s Premier League side Al Hilal have confirmed the signing of Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala on a two-year contract.
The six-time Africa Women’s Player of the Year completed her move from National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) outfit Bay FC, where she spent one-and-a-half seasons. She was unveiled on Tuesday through the club’s social media platforms after undergoing medicals in Riyadh on Monday.
“Welcome Asisat Oshoala. Countless achievements, and more to come,” Al Hilal posted during her announcement.
Oshoala becomes the latest Nigerian international to move to Saudi Arabia, joining her Super Falcons teammates Ashleigh Plumptre and Francisca Ordega.
Al Hilal finished sixth in the 2024/25 Saudi Women’s Premier League season, which expanded from eight to ten clubs.
Meanwhile, Bay FC also confirmed her departure in a statement:
“Bay FC and Saudi Arabia club Al Hilal have agreed to terms on a transfer for Asisat Oshoala. Thank you for everything you’ve given to this club.”
Oshoala joined Bay FC during their debut NWSL campaign, making 25 appearances with 23 starts, scoring seven goals and providing one assist. This season, however, her playing time diminished, featuring in 12 games with just five starts and no direct goal contributions.
Before her NWSL stint, Oshoala enjoyed a highly successful five-year spell at Barcelona Femeni, netting 107 goals in 149 matches. She won five Liga F titles and two UEFA Women’s Champions League trophies with the Catalan giants. Her earlier career included spells at Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chinese side Dalian Quanjian, after starting out in Nigeria with FC Robo and Rivers Angels.
Internationally, the Super Falcons star has been instrumental for Nigeria, playing a part in their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco, where she featured in two matches.
