Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has commiserated with residents of Iwo over the devastating flood that followed hours of heavy rainfall in the town.
The governor acknowledged the significant personal losses suffered by residents and pledged that his administration would intensify efforts to protect lives and property from future occurrences.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, in Osogbo, Adeleke disclosed that resources had already been deployed to expand waterways in Iwo and neighbouring communities, building on earlier interventions.
He further assured that the state government would assess the level of damage and extend necessary support to those affected.
Adeleke also noted that his administration had earlier embarked on preventive measures, including the dredging of the Aiba waterways, to improve water flow and reduce the risk of flooding.
