Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area following renewed violent attacks across several communities.
The directive, announced in Yola by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, takes immediate effect. Authorities said the recent unrest has claimed several lives and constitutes a serious breakdown of peace in the affected areas.
Governor Fintiri described the violence as “unacceptable” and ordered security agencies to strictly enforce the curfew. “Anyone found violating the directive will be arrested and dealt with in accordance with the law,” Wonosikou added. The curfew will remain in force until further notice.
Lamurde LGA has a history of communal unrest, with a previous 24-hour curfew imposed on December 8, 2025, following attacks targeting the Bachama community.
The governor urged residents to comply with the curfew and assist security forces by providing information that could help restore peace. “Government will not condone acts of violence and will take necessary measures to restore peace and order,” he said, reaffirming the state’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
Authorities also called on local communities to cooperate with security agencies to restore normalcy in Lamurde.
