Nollywood actor Gideon Okeke has raised an alarm over what he described as unhygienic practices on a recent movie set, particularly within the wardrobe department.
In a candid revelation following his participation in an epic film production, Okeke shared that he developed rashes after wearing an animal skin tunic provided by the costume team. He attributed the skin reaction to the possible lack of proper cleaning and maintenance of the costume.
The actor appealed to wardrobe departments across the industry to take cleanliness seriously, especially when reusing costumes for different cast members.
“It costs nothing to wash costumes properly, but the impact on actors’ health and professionalism is significant,” Okeke said. He warned that if the issue is not addressed, other actors might suffer similar health risks.
His statement has sparked discussions about hygiene standards in Nollywood and the need for improved practices behind the scenes.
