Kaduna Police Arrest 14 Over Armed Robbery, Gun Manufacturing

The Kaduna State Police Command has intensified its operations across the state, arresting a total of ten suspected armed robbers and four illegal firearms manufacturers in a series of targeted raids and intelligence-driven operations.

According to a statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, various arms, ammunition, and stolen vehicles were recovered during the crackdowns. Among the recovered items were eight locally fabricated guns, sixteen cartridges, three vehicles, a motorcycle, and a bench vice machine used in weapon production.

In one operation, two suspects — Sanusi Bala of Zamfara State and Nura Bala of Zaria — were apprehended while attempting to rob a tricycle rider. Upon interrogation, they confessed to being part of a syndicate notorious for targeting commercial tricycle operators and selling stolen tricycles to a known buyer identified as Jamilu Zurmi in Zamfara. Three other stolen vehicles were also recovered from the gang:

  • Golf III Wagon (dark blue) – Reg. No. ABC-152-AL
  • Golf III Wagon (green) – Reg. No. ABJ-900-RE
  • An unregistered Golf III Wagon (dark blue)

In a separate raid, five suspected robbers — Ahmed Umar Isah Musa, Zailani Sa’adu, Abdulrahman Mukhtar, and Ibrahim Sa’adu — were arrested after invading a residence in Unguwan Sanusi, Kaduna South, where they stole a Toyota Corolla and valuables. The car was traced to Garba Yaro of Maradi, Niger Republic, a known fence for stolen vehicles, who is currently on the run.

In Makarfi Local Government Area, four individuals involved in illegal firearms manufacturingHassan Ibrahim, Murtala Yakubu, Shuaibu Abubakar, and Ismail Shuaibu — were caught at a workshop in Giroji village. Items recovered included:

  • Three locally made rifles
  • Three incomplete rifle frames
  • Fourteen cartridges
  • Five rounds of live T.06 ammunition
  • One bench vice machine

Additionally, the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, acting on a tip-off, apprehended Rabilu Lawal, Sirajo Shuaibu, and Shehu Sarki in Doya village for their alleged role in the kidnapping of a resident’s wife in Kwatakore village. Two locally made guns and two live cartridges were seized.

Lastly, operatives arrested another group of suspected robbers based on intelligence reports at Kano Road in Kaduna North LGA. Investigations are ongoing, and efforts are underway to locate and apprehend accomplices still at large.
