Final Inspections Completed in Kenya Ahead of TotalEnergies CAF CHAN 2024
Kenya’s Local Organizing Committee has confirmed the country’s readiness to host the upcoming TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, following successful final inspections and readiness workshops conducted by the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF).
With the tournament just weeks away, CAF has commenced its final round of evaluations across the host nations—Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The first inspection was held on Friday, July 4, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani in Nairobi. The newly renovated, 50,000-seat stadium is set to host Group A matches and the tournament final on August 30, 2025.
The Kenyan government has reiterated its commitment to delivering a world-class CHAN 2024 experience.

The CAF delegation concluded its Nairobi inspections with a visit to Nyayo Stadium on Saturday, July 5.
The team will now continue assessments in other host cities, including Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Kampala (Uganda), and Zanzibar.
Before the stadium visits, CAF conducted in-depth workshops with various Local Organising Committee (LOC) departments, focusing on key operational areas such as broadcasting, safety and security, logistics, and team transport services.
Nicholas Musonye, Chairman of Kenya’s LOC, expressed confidence in the country’s preparations, noting that the committee has been working closely with CAF to meet all requirements.

“We’ve been working around the clock to ensure everything stays on track as the tournament approaches,” said Musonye. “The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) has maintained close collaboration with CAF, strictly following all guidelines and timelines. We also extend our gratitude to the Government for its unwavering support, particularly in providing timely funding and necessary approvals.”
Representing Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Hon. Salim Mvurya, Mr. Evans Achoki, Secretary of Administration at the Ministry of Sports, reaffirmed the government’s commitment:
“The Government is fully dedicated and has worked closely with the LOC to ensure smooth coordination at every level. Our aim is to deliver an exceptional CHAN tournament that will leave a lasting impression across Africa and beyond. Kenya is ready.”
CAF’s inspection team will continue its assessment on Saturday with a visit to Nyayo National Stadium, where they will offer final evaluations and suggest any additional improvements.
