The Federal Ministry of Interior has dismissed as fake and fraudulent a press release circulating on social media claiming that the ongoing Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) recruitment exercise has been postponed until after the 2027 general election.
The ministry said the document, titled “CDCFIB Recruitment Update” and dated August 11, 2026, was neither authorised nor issued by the ministry or the CDCFIB.
According to the ministry, the purported statement was falsely attributed to the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who did not sign or issue it.
The ministry also rejected claims that funding constraints had forced the government to suspend the recruitment exercise, stressing that no decision has been made to postpone the exercise until after the 2027 general election.
“The exercise is ongoing,” the ministry stated.
The clarification is expected to ease concerns among applicants who may have been misled by the fake postponement notice.
The ministry urged applicants and members of the public to disregard recruitment information that does not originate from its verified communication channels or those of the CDCFIB.
It advised applicants to rely on the official CDCFIB recruitment portal and other verified platforms for authentic updates.
The statement was electronically signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani.
The ministry further warned applicants to remain vigilant and avoid misleading documents and unverified recruitment information circulating on social media and messaging platforms.
