Okpebholo Reaffirms Commitment to Education, Flags Off Distribution of Learning Materials in Edo

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector and ensuring the holistic development of children across the state.

The assurance was given during the official flag-off ceremony for the distribution of teaching and learning materials, sports equipment, mini buses, and back-to-school kits at New Era College in Benin City.

Represented by his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, the governor noted that the administration has recorded significant progress in the education sector. He also commended President Bola Tinubu for providing financial support to states to strengthen critical sectors of the economy.

The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board, Ebanehita Omonzane, explained that the distribution exercise was carried out in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).

She said the initiative is aimed at improving the quality of education, stimulating students’ interest in learning, and encouraging regular school attendance across the state.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Edo State Ministry of Education, Edith Ebomoyi, commended the governor for prioritising education. She urged students to make proper use of the materials and called on parents to support their children by providing a conducive learning environment.

The highlight of the event was the commissioning of mini buses and Hilux vans, alongside the distribution of educational materials to all 18 local government areas of the state by the Deputy Governor.
