The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Mr. Bayo Ojulari, has attributed the recent surge in cooking gas prices to a temporary disruption caused by last week’s PENGASSAN strike.
Speaking to State House correspondents, Ojulari said the industrial action halted loading and distribution for two to three days, leading to an artificial shortage that drove up prices. He also accused some retailers of exploiting the delay by inflating prices.
Ojulari assured Nigerians that prices will drop soon as distribution stabilises, noting that the situation was temporary.
The PENGASSAN strike was in protest against the dismissal of Nigerian workers at the Dangote Refinery.
