Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, on Saturday inspected the ongoing Damaturu flyover and underpass, as well as the Damaturu–Gambir road project.
The governor, who was accompanied by Deputy Governor Idi Barde Gubana and other top officials, said he was impressed with the quality and pace of work.

Buni noted that the flyover would ease traffic congestion in the city centre and help tackle flooding along Gashua Road. “The contractors have so far lived up to expectations with strict adherence to agreements,” he said.
Commissioner for Works, Umar Dudaye, assured that site engineers were monitoring progress closely. Contractors also confirmed the project would be completed within the agreed timeframe.

At the Damaturu–Gambir road site, Buni stressed the project’s economic value, saying it would make it easier for farming communities to transport produce to the capital.
Contractor Modu Bukar of Elegance Construction said the road would be completed within nine weeks.
The Damaturu flyover and underpass, handled by Triacta Nigeria Limited under a N22.3 billion contract signed in February 2025, are expected to be completed by January 2026.

The projects are part of the Buni administration’s infrastructure push, which also includes new roads, roundabout remodelling, a modern motorpark, and improved drainage systems.
