Gov Okpebholo Decorates 42 Newly Promoted Police Officers, Charges Them on Professionalism

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has decorated forty-two police officers attached to the Government House, Benin City, following their recent promotion. He charged them to remain committed to duty, uphold integrity, and demonstrate professionalism in service to the state.

The governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Gani Audu, congratulated the officers on their elevation, describing the promotions as a reward for their dedication and discipline.

“Whatever you have done to earn this promotion, please continue with it. Remain serious with the job. Be dedicated, determined, and focused on your responsibilities. Promotions come with higher expectations, and I trust that you will not only live up to this new rank but also raise the standard of service delivery to Edo people,” Alhaji Audu conveyed on behalf of the governor.

Governor Okpebholo further commended the Edo State Police Command for its cooperation with his administration in maintaining peace and order. He assured that the state government will continue to strengthen security architecture to ensure the safety of lives and property.

On his part, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika, congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them. He reminded them that promotions come with greater responsibility, calling for discipline, courage, and professionalism in service.

Out of the 42 beneficiaries, eleven officers were elevated from Inspector to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), twenty-five advanced from Sergeant to Inspector, while six were promoted from Corporal to Sergeant.

The event was attended by colleagues, family members, and senior security personnel, who applauded the officers for their achievement. The atmosphere was filled with pride and celebration, as the ceremony highlighted both recognition of past service and a call to higher responsibility in securing Edo State.
