Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has urged residents of Edo Central to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, describing the President as a true friend of the State who “has taken Edo as his home.”
Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial campaign rally in Ugboha Ward 10, Esan South East Local Government Area, Okpebholo called on the people to show appreciation for President Tinubu’s continued support by delivering votes for his second-term bid.
“President Tinubu has shown Edo love, and we must support him in return. Come 2027, let us give him our votes as a mark of gratitude. Remember we promised him 2.5 million votes. I see the August 16 senatorial by-election as a test,” the Governor said.
The rally also witnessed the defection of several members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, a move Okpebholo described as proof of the party’s growing strength in Edo Central. He further credited President Tinubu for backing numerous infrastructural projects in the state and pledged to accelerate key road constructions, including the Ugboha–Ubiaja and Ugboha–Anegbete routes.
“When I came for my campaign, you told me to revive the Ugboha water scheme, and I have done that. Now, I promise to fast-track the roads you have requested before the election,” he assured.
The event drew a massive crowd and featured top APC leaders and stakeholders, who urged constituents to support Hon. Joseph Ikpea in the August 16 senatorial by-election, promising more democratic dividends under the APC leadership.
