Ace Nigerian filmmaker Kemi Adetiba has disclosed that she might undergo a third surgery as her long-standing battle with fibroids continues.
Adetiba, known for her hit films and impactful storytelling, first opened up about her struggle with fibroids in 2015, describing it then as a “severe case” that once landed her in the emergency room. Despite undergoing two surgeries in the past, the health challenge appears unresolved.
The latest update came in the comment section of an Instagram post by actress Ini Dima-Okojie, who shared her own experience with fibroids in a heartfelt video and urged for more awareness and a lasting cure. Responding to the post, Adetiba wrote:
“I’ve had surgery twice for this already, and it now seems I might need a third. Sigh.”
The revelation has sparked further conversation about the widespread impact of fibroids among women, with many expressing solidarity and calling for more attention to women’s health issues.
Despite her health battles, Adetiba remains one of the most successful and resilient voices in Nollywood. Her most recent project, To Kill A Monkey, premiered on Netflix on July 18 to widespread acclaim. The gripping mini-series follows the story of Efemini, an everyday man whose life takes a dark turn into cybercrime after a chance encounter with an old friend.
Adetiba’s journey into filmmaking began after studying Law at the University of Lagos and later attending the New York Film Academy. She started her media career in radio, moved on to TV presenting—including hosting the popular Maltina Dance All—before cementing her reputation as a top-tier director.
As fans continue to celebrate her professional milestones, many have also sent messages of support and prayers for her health and recovery.
