Nigeria Customs Warns Nigerians Against Misuse of U.S. Visas Following U.S. Government Alert

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has issued a public advisory warning Nigerians against the misuse of United States entry visas, following concerns raised by the U.S. Government over increasing cases of visa abuse.

In a statement signed by NCS spokesperson Abdullahi Maiwada and made available to journalists in Abuja, the Service emphasized the importance of adhering strictly to the purpose and classification of U.S. visas once granted.

The NCS cautioned that U.S. immigration authorities maintain ongoing security surveillance of visa holders even after they enter the country. According to the statement, a visa may be revoked at any time if the holder is found to be engaged in activities inconsistent with the declared purpose of travel, or if they violate U.S. immigration regulations, import/export controls, or any other federal laws.

“The Nigeria Customs Service urges all Nigerians to take this warning seriously and avoid any form of misconduct that could jeopardize their travel privileges or tarnish the country’s image internationally,” the statement read.

The advisory comes amid growing concerns over fraudulent practices and non-compliance with U.S. visa terms by some Nigerian travelers.
