The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Aliyu, has expressed the Commission’s commitment to partnering with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) in tackling corruption, particularly in aviation sector regulation and service delivery.
Dr. Aliyu made this pledge on Monday during a courtesy visit to the ICPC headquarters in Abuja by the Director-General of NCAA, Captain Chris Ona Najomo, and his team.
In his welcome remarks, the ICPC Chairman stressed the need for a united front in combating corruption, highlighting that no single agency can succeed in the fight alone. He called for a multi-sectoral approach to address systemic corruption within the aviation sector.
As part of the collaboration, Dr. Aliyu proposed the creation of a Joint Corruption Prevention Roundtable between the ICPC and NCAA. The initiative would serve as a proactive platform to share insights, develop anti-corruption strategies, and identify and mitigate potential corruption risks in the industry.
He also recommended the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize the partnership, stating that such a move would strengthen institutional integrity and boost foreign investor confidence in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
In his response, Captain Najomo described the visit as part of a broader effort to enhance transparency, ethics, and accountability across the aviation industry.
