Russia launched a sweeping overnight attack on Ukraine between late Tuesday and early Wednesday, unleashing at least 400 drones, heavy artillery, and a ballistic missile, according to Ukrainian officials.
The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed that the Iskander missile was fired from the occupied Crimean Peninsula, while the drone and artillery strikes targeted multiple regions across the country.
Authorities reported one woman killed and more than two dozen people wounded in the attacks. A missile strike also knocked out power and water supplies in Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The assault comes just two days after former U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to impose severe sanctions on Russia unless it agrees to a peace deal within 50 days to end its three-year war on Ukraine.
Although Russian and Ukrainian delegations last held direct peace talks over a month ago, no future meetings are currently scheduled, despite Moscow’s stated willingness to negotiate.
